**The Pay Structure**
Superyacht employment is often underpaid relative to commercial maritime positions of equivalent responsibility. A captain on a 50-metre superyacht earns £5,000 to £9,000 per month. A commercial master on a similar vessel earns more.

**Entry Route**
Day Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore are the entry certifications for working on smaller vessels. Yachtmaster Ocean for offshore passages. Commercial Endorsement to work as paid crew. STCW Basic Safety Training as required on any commercially operated vessel.
The superyacht job market concentrates in crew placement agencies in Antibes and Fort Lauderdale. Showing up with certificates in hand is still the most effective entry method for deck crew positions.
